We appreciate the transient nature of the international community and hence we accept applications all year round.

We recruit credentialed teachers from around the world. We hire teachers with a high level of English fluency who have a passion for guiding and supporting students to succeed.

The majority of our teachers are from the United States.

The International Baccalaureate (“IB”) is a Geneva-based non-profit educational foundation that offers four educational programs for students ages 3 to 18, with the aim of helping develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly changing world. Yangon American was designed to deliver a high-end IB program. From the teachers and the daily schedules to the classrooms and classroom materials, all aspects at Yangon American were designed to fit this program. We are the first school in Myanmar to accredited to offer the IB primary Years Program (“PYP”) designed for students ages 3 to 12 years old and we are a candidate school for the Middle Years Program (“MYP”) in Myanmar.

Approximately 70% of students at Yangon American are Myanmar and 30% are from expatriate families, coming from 15 nationalities.

Class sizes are limited to ensure that students are provided the attention they need in a supportive and caring environment.

Yes, we provide an optional bus service for our students. The pick-up and drop-off routes are planned in the most efficient manner by our bus coordinator. We offer qualified drivers, bus monitors and well-maintained buses.

Yes, we offer high quality and fresh food provided by a reliable vendor. Students also have the option of bringing their own packed snack and lunch.

Yes, our Parent Teacher Organization (“PTO”) is committed to fostering a strong partnership between parents, teachers, administrators, and the greater school community. The PTO supports the mission of Yangon American through clear goals that promote a healthy, caring, inclusive, and encouraging educational environment for all students.
