Early Years Program

Early Years Program

Our early years program is a developmentally appropriate play and inquiry-based model, which includes Nursery, Toddler, and Pre-kindergarten: Ages 2 to 4.

Students engage with their environment to cultivate cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. They learn by investigation and exploration related to their developmental stage. Designing learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate means understanding and considering the developmental stage of the learner to meet the patterns of growth and learning that affects how a child processes information, interacts with others, and learns new skills.

In our early years program, teachers act as facilitators, in which the learning environment is designed to be open-ended, flexible, and responsive to children’s interests and needs.

Assessment is based on observation and documentation of children’s learning. Teachers observe and document children’s interactions, play, and learning to gain insights into their strengths and areas for growth. This information is used to guide future learning experiences and support children’s ongoing development.

PYP Program of Inquiry

At Yangon American International School, our Programme of Inquiry is designed to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. Rooted in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, it explores transdisciplinary themes that connect subjects in meaningful ways. Each grade level engages with central ideas, lines of inquiry, and key concepts that encourage students to ask questions, make connections, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. This approach ensures a dynamic and engaging learning experience that nurtures both academic excellence and global awareness.
